Sorting through some recyclables...

The nonprofit organization Canyonlands Community Recycling (CCR) has been working to promote recycling in the Moab area since 1991. CCR focused on operating and managing Moab's recycling center until July 1, 2010, when CCR transferred management and operation of the center to the Grand County Solid Waste Special Service District #1 (the District). This transfer was intended to benefit both entities, by allowing the District to streamline its waste reduction and management efforts and CCR to focus its attention on encouraging lower rates of consumption, higher rates of recycling, and greater reuse of existing resources.

CCR's new mission is to enhance sustainability by empowering the Moab community to reduce, reuse, and recycle. To do so, CCR has embarked on a new education and outreach program, one goal of which is to divert at least 15% of the community's waste from our landfills by 2015.

Donations

As a non-profit corporation, CCR's main focus is to provide public outreach and education concerning the many benefits of waste reduction, reuse and recycling. This work is supported by both monetary and in-kind donations from individuals, businesses and foundations. Contributions may be placed in the donation bin at the recycling center or mailed to CCR at: P.O. Box 97, Moab, Utah 84532. You can also contribute to CCR by voting for CCR when you make a purchase or donate items to WabiSabi's thrift stores, by volunteering, and/or by contacting us about our wish list. Please note that donations are tax deductible.
